From the ruins of the place once called North America lies the united states of Panem, a shining Capitol flanked by twelve outlying districts. But if she is to win, she will have to start out making choices that may weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Wow....just wow. Absolutely amazing. Honestly, equally as emotional and fantastic because first time Someone said it. I can't know where to start this review!

Two centuries earlier, north america was destroyed along with its midst rose the Capitol with its surrounding 13 districts. Allow the Seventy-Fourth Hunger Games begin.

Y'all need to comprehend that I am not and emotional person with regards to books. No, I promise I'm not really heartless, I merely don't cry easily. Yes, during books my heart rate accelerates and I'll shame the characters, however don't actually cry. That is one of the only books where I've come this all-around tears. And thats saying something.

To begin with I buy into the many emotional thing book, I would like to first discuss the characters.

Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's the best style of heroine and that i be aware that sometimes these learn to blend together but something I like about her is always that although she can be these products like numerous other heroines in existence, she's a slam dunk lovable and witty like most others. She's standoffish as well as a loner and it also takes a very long time for a person to obtain to her. She's mature beyond her years because she gets being. She took over as sole supporter of her family at this kind of young age also it hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this tough exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's right in front of her: the fact that people cherish her. However, although its hard to get past her hardened exterior, as soon as you do, she is a remarkably kind and admirable person. The vast majority of shown through her actions at the reaping. She cared so much on her family that they was able to risk her life, understanding that her chances for returning home were slim, just to keep her sister safe. If it is really not worth respect, then I don't know what is.

Peeta is another great character. He's just about the entire opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly really cares about Katniss regardless of whether she can't notice herself. Even if you do not get to find out to much about him as this is from Katniss' perspective, you may still see that she has admirable qualities too. Normally I enjoy the alpha male and also the bad-boy (I assume its kinda my weakness) on the other hand do also discover the sweet, respectful guys i fell head-over-heels for his heart.

Regarding secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their own way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink a bit to much, but incorporates a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly likes you Katniss even though he hardly knows her. Perhaps the other tributes each had their very own personalities that made them unique (Don't even get me began on Rue!).

This book was only so incredibly emotional. 24 kids go into an arena simply 1 comes out. I honestly can't even imagine when i was in their situation. I understand i always would do whatever it took to survive, but exactly how would that change me? Each tribute only agreed to be wanting to survive. They didn't need to be there (well, except a number of), but were instructed to be. If your facing your immediate death, what would you do? Survival changes people. These different reactions on their situations were shown remarkably well through all of the different tributes. Collins' does a wonderful jobs of showing how each person would fare in cases like this. While all of the bloodshed in the arena itself is disturbing, probably the most disturbing thing for me personally was the reality that people from the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying and to them it had been just entertainment. We were holding completely oblivious!! That it was all just a game for them. Providing these people were entertained, these folks were happy. It had been sick. Completely and utterly sick.

And also to tell the truth, I felt awful for the other tributes, even while they attempted to kill Katniss and Peeta. How may you not? These were thrown in to a situation most of them weren't ready for and looking for home. But they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right together with Katniss. She, too, understands that we were holding only doing the things they was required to function like she was.

The Hunger Games could be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is often a beautiful story full of survival, hope and fighting for the purpose you like.
